This site is a small front yard of a multi-family home located on one of the busiest thoroughfares in Takoma Park. The site abuts the sidewalk and is next door to one of the city’s most popular restaurants. The landlord gave CFFC permission to plant edibles and native plants so we decided to use the space as a “living billboard” for ecologically-sound methods of food production. So we planted two permaculture guilds on either side of the path, packing in a bunch of edible, medicinal and pollinator to show folks what can be done in small urban spaces.
