Earth Day 2025 Celebration!

  • Montgomery College Silver Spring/Takoma Park Campus 7719 Chicago Avenue Silver Spring, MD, 20910 United States (map)

Join us for a fun packed day to celebrate Earth Day 2025. What better way to show our gratitude for Mother Earth and all that she provides than by lending a hand to regenerate the land. Come and help us plant edible and medicinal shrubs, wildflowers, and herbs at the new food forest site. We’ll have a seed swap, kids activities and free food.

Please do bring any seeds you’d like to exchange at the seed swap. We’ll also have some seeds to giveaway so you can start planting.

And kids can join Erica from ipsy bipsy studio for a free hands-on paper making workshop! We will be using recycled scrap paper, flower petals, and plant seeds to create garden-safe plantable seed balls and beautiful sheets of handmade paper to take home. Come prepared to get messy in the garden while we talk about the importance of growing food forests, the benefits of spending time in nature, and the ethos of DIY and making environmentally thoughtful art.

Food will be provided for free thanks to an incredibly generous offer from the kind folks at Motorkat in Takoma Park!

Where: Montgomery College Silver Spring/Takoma Park Campus, 7719 Chicago Avenue, Silver Spring, MD, 20910

When: 10am to 2pm, April 19th 2025

This event is free but any donations, no matter how small, are greatly appreciated so that we can keep making our communities more resilient. One fruit tree costs around $75 to buy and install, but provides a community with $1,000s worth of food over its lifetime. You can donate here.
