Work party: planting edible & medicinal shrubs at new college food forest

  • Montgomery College Silver Spring/Takoma Park campus 7676 Fenton Street Silver Spring, MD, 20910 United States (map)

Help us plant edible and medicinal shrubs at the new Montgomery College food forest site. We have lots of plants to get in the ground, and lots of other things to do at the site! This is a great time to plug into the work we do as we’re at the beginning of our journey with this site. All ages welcome!

Note that we will have a light lunch offering for volunteers at 2.15pm so please join us for that if you can. We’ll eat lunch at the old food forest site (7719 Chicago Avenue, Silver Spring) and then walk over to the new site (5 min walk). Planting won’t begin at the new site until 3pm.

When: April 6th, 2pm-6pm (we will postpone in the event of heavy rain or high winds).

Where: Montgomery College Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, 7676 Fenton St, Silver Spring, MD 20910

Please do bring your own water, and any gloves or planting tools you might have if you can.

Donations, no matter how small, are greatly appreciated so that we can keep making our communities more resilient. One fruit tree costs around $75 to buy and install, but provides a community with $1,000s worth of food over its lifetime. Please donate here and thank you so much for your support.
